Gemini Shores is designed primarily for children, adolescents, young adults, caregivers, and families.
Areas of focus include trauma and PTSD, anxiety, emotional regulation, depression, grief, foster care and adoption-related concerns, attachment and family transitions, school stress, self-esteem, identity development, relationships, and life transitions.
Fit is determined individually based on clinical needs and the services available through the practice.
-
Telehealth may be available when clinically appropriate and when it fits the client's needs, age, location, privacy, and ability to participate effectively.
Some clients benefit more from in-person care, and this can be discussed during the initial consultation or assessment.
-
The first appointment is an opportunity to understand what is bringing you or your child to counseling, what has been happening recently, relevant history and stressors, strengths and supports, current concerns, and what you would like to be different.
It is also a chance to determine whether Gemini Shores feels like an appropriate therapeutic fit.
You do not need to arrive with a perfectly defined goal.
-
Caregiver involvement is determined by the client's age, developmental needs, clinical concerns, safety needs, treatment goals, and applicable confidentiality requirements.
For many young clients, caregiver collaboration can be an important part of treatment. At the same time, therapy must include developmentally appropriate privacy so children and adolescents can build trust and speak honestly.
Expectations for communication and confidentiality will be discussed at the beginning of services.

We are currently accepting cash payments. However, we are working with insurance to set that up.

Insurance coverage for family therapy varies by plan. When family therapy is billed to insurance, the service generally centers on the treatment of an identified client with a mental health diagnosis. We can discuss whether using insurance or self-pay makes the most sense for the type of family support you are seeking.

We can discuss individual needs to set appointment length.
-
You do not need to know exactly what kind of therapy you need before reaching out.
You can begin by describing what is happening, what you are concerned about, and what you hope could change.
If Gemini Shores is not the appropriate level or type of care, the goal will be to communicate that clearly so you can pursue a service that better matches the need.
-
Gemini Shores will provide clear expectations regarding scheduling, routine communication, and appropriate between-session contact.
Counseling communication channels are not designed for emergency or continuous crisis response. Clients will receive information about what to do if urgent safety concerns arise outside scheduled services.
